We left the Pillon Island anchorage late morning. There was very little wind so we spent 4 hours motoring across Lac Saint-Francis, crossing into Québec to dock at Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
Lac Saint-Francis is one of three artificial lakes along the Saint Lawrence Seaway, created by dams, locks and flooded farm fields.
We arrived in Marina Valleyfield just before a small squall passed over. We’re glad to be in a marina after three days at anchor and we needed fuel, water, a pump-out and provisions. Unfortunately, the Marina was somewhat disappointing. The diesel pump at the fuel dock wasn’t working. Somebody was in the slip to which we were assigned so we had to negotiate using a vacant seasonal slip, and move the boat twice. Our key FOB, giving access to the docks and facilities didn’t work. And the marina is clogged with weeds.
That said, once settled in, we took a nice walk, fired up the air conditioner, had nice showers, and enjoyed a quiet evening aboard True North (no fireworks here, of course).
Salaberry-de-Valleyfield seems like a nice town and we’ll explore it more today.
